Mr. Deora is a member of the Lok
Sabha from South Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was educated
at Cathedral & John Cannon's School and Sydenham
College in Mumbai and acquired a Bachelor of Science
in Business Administration from Boston University, USA.
An entrepreneur by profession, Mr. Deora runs units
in manufacturing, trading & finance. He earlier
worked in the US for a year before returning to India
to work with a leading conglomerate as a Senior Executive.
Mr. Deora who is involved with other activities as well,
is the Chairman of the Indian Merchants' Young Entrepreneurs'
Wing. He has written extensively on Mumbai's problems
in a column called Metrovision in the city's leading
newspaper, The Times of India.
Mr. Deora is actively involved in social work. He has
expanded a free Computer Education programme run by
his father, Mr. Murli Deora, a senior politician and
the Chairman of the IUFP, to South Mumbai's Government
aided schools. Mr. Milind Deora has facilitated the
adoption of schools that were fund starved and provided
them with many infrastructural needs. He is a renowned
name in these 100 schools covering 100,000 students
in south Mumbai.
Mr. Milind Deora has also started SPARSH-an NGO, which
works for the under-privileged in South Mumbai in areas
like education, public health and sports.
Apart from being active in political and social work,
Mr. Deora has keen interest in reading and travel and
is a gifted musician.
